Day 10 - Weekly Setup
So far we have set up a Year at a Glance - that giant picture window on the 30th floor of our life. Then we went a little deeper and designed a Month View to plan our critical tasks and events for a smaller time frame (4 weeks), committing to our priority items first, and creating goals, habits, and tasks to support these things - leaving space for all the little rocks to fall into place.
Weekly Setup. Now we will create a weekly view. This is a place to chronicle what has happened, not just what we need to do. A place to record how the day went, what transpired that was good and maybe not-so-good. A place to actually pen or record our life story. Whoa. This is where the living is happening, and where we can go to recall it.
See journaling is not simply about making lists and checking boxes. It is about sharing progress with our selves, our successes, and storing the moments of our lives in a place that is physical, that can be flipped through at a later time, and won't change... as our memories do from time to time.
Like every other aspect of this challenge, you have complete freedom to determine what level of recording you want to do. Some write daily entries like a diary. Others incorporate weather details, food consumed, steps walked, etc.
Take time each Sunday to
REFLECT on what transpired last week, celebrate the wins, check your progress on your goals and habits.
PLAN the week ahead
Look at what is on your Month View for the week and copy it over. No flipping required.
Look at where you need to course-correct on a habit or ramp up on goal work...
What things are going on - Call Mom, send an email to Sue, Give the dog a bath? This is a great place for them
Things to consider for the layout
Are you tracking anything at a day level, like the amount of water you consume or the weather?
Do you like to doodle? Maybe create a space for this each week or each day is therapeutic?
How important is it for you to capture your mood, the day's events, that funny thing your child said or did? Consider incorporating space for these details
There are plenty of examples of more detailed lists, which I include in the example photos below and saved to my Pinterest board. They can be found in various social media apps like Pinterest, Instagram, and even found through Google searches. Find one that suits your taste or make one of your own.
